Shem means candle. A candle loses nothing by lighting another. Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness is not diminished by sharing it. As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. By freeing ourselves from our fear, our presence actually liberates others as well. “Let light shine out of the darkness.”
